Reset Forgotten Windows XP Administrator Password

Date Added : February 8, 2011 | Views : 684

To try this method, you must restart your computer and while the so called BIOS screen comes up just press the F8 key. After that there will appear a new screen where you will have a list of options to choose.

Simply choose the "Safe Mode" and press Enter. When you have booted in safe mode you still are asked for password to login. But we will use the hidden account "Administrator" and the password there in default is blank, so leave it empty and you will be logged in with admin privileges.

After login just go to the "Control Panel - User Accounts". In there choose the account you forgot your password. Your windows account will be unlocked when you click on the option called "remove password".

But remember, this method will only work when your computer is in default settings and the hidden Administrator account's password isn't changed by anyone before.

Also it is tested to only work in Windows XP. It is not able to use this way to reset windows user password in Windows Vista or 7.
