To keep your PC running a duty to wipe the hard drive of temporary files, optimize (defrag) the hard drive, and check the hard disk for errors regularly. To make your computer clean of temporary files and other clutter you need to wipe the hard drive. You can perform this task manually or schedule the Disk Cleanup to run automatically. If you want your operating system Windows 7 to perform this task automatically, click the Start button, Control Panel, click Administrative Tools, then double-click Task Scheduler. Then, click the Action menu and then click Create Basic Task. In the Create Basic Task Wizard, you need to type a name for the task and an optional description, and then click Next. Click daily, weekly, monthly, or once according to your preference and then click Next. Here you should specify the schedule you want to use, and then click Next. Click on a program, and click Next. Click Browse and in the Name box, type cleanmgr.exe, click Open, and then click Next. Click Finish to complete the task.



Over time, files on your hard disk is fragmented and gradually slower PC performs. File fragmentation is natural and there is almost nothing you can do to stop this. What you can do is bring all these fragmented files and put them together again. To perform this task, Windows has a utility called Disk Defragmenter. This rearranges fragmented files and increase free space on your hard disk is faster performance. Run this utility once a week.
