Details about How to obtain an Indian driving license

Young and elderly alike are opting for own transportation as public transport is not able to meet the demand and a lot of time is wasted in waiting.. It is a long process to owning a vehicle, its registration and obtaining a driving license It is necessary to know as to whom you should contact, the necessary documents to be submitted and the fees for various categories.







Learning Licence (LLR)– form 1,1a,2 are to be filled up,Xerox copy of one of the below -passport, telephone bill, house tax receipt, LIC policy, pay slip, voter’s card, ration card or pan card.- is to be included.

• For age proof – birth certificate, school certificate, certificate issued by medical officer/civil surgeon.

• AGE:16 years for vehicles without gear,18 years for light motor vehicle and vehicle with gears.

• Fees: Rs. 60/-30/- fee + Rs.30/- service charge)

• Driving Test-the fee for driving test will be Rs.90/- you have to drive the vehicle of track which takes about 10 minutes. You have to obtain at least 12 marks out of 20.

PERMANENT DRIVING LICENCE – Form 4 is to be filled up.

• LLR original is to be submitted.

• Appear with vehicle for licence.

• Fees- Rs.390-Rs.440 depending on the category of the vehicle.

INTERNATIONAL DRIVING PERMIT(IDP)- Form 1a,4a are to be filled.

• Submit original Indian Driving Licence, Xerox copy of passport and visa.

• There will not any driving test but the person must appear before the concerned office.

• Fees- Rs. 650/-

DUPLICATE DRIVING LICENCE –Form LLD is to be filled.

• Police certificate is to be attached

• Fees-315/-

RENEWAL OF DRIVING LICENCE- Forms 9,1,1a are to be filled.

• Original driving licence, medical certificate of people aged above 50.

• Fees-Rs.350/-

REGISTRATION OF VEHICLE- form 20,21, 22, to be filled

• Sale certificate, invoice bill, proof of residency, life tax receipt (paid at e-seva), insurance certificate.

• The vehicle is to be compulsorily produced for inspection.

• Motor cycles –Rs.160/- and form 26 is to be submitted along police enquiry certificate and no objection certificate from the financier.

• Light motor vehicle like autos and jeeps – Rs.500/-Form 26 to be submitted along with police enquiry certificate and no objection certificate from the financier.

• Transport vehicle –Rs.600/-

• Heavy vehicles – Rs.800/-
