How many words should be the e-book?
Do not worry. It is a common problem.Unfortunately there is no clear answer. Or more correctly, the answer is in the process of change.
Historically, electronic books have been short. Reading them involved sitting at a desk staring at a computer screen for long periods of time. So, naturally, was most useful when only contained the necessary information. It was not unusual for the full Books and size to be 20 pages. And in fact, fifty pages or so made for a good length for an ebook. Sure would not exceed one hundred.
This, of course, led to abuses. Very short length of the pieces were sold the item - and priced - as if full-size electronic books. After all, people want concrete answers to their questions and were willing to pay for the answers. And nobody wanted to read more on the computer than necessary.
At the same time, the traditional paper-based books were getting longer. Instead of an average book of 200 pages or so, which grew to 300 to 400 pages. long books became 400 to 600 pages and more. In fact, many long books to be released as multi-volume sets.
Self-help books were also affected by this trend. As before, the executives were 50 books and 150 pages became 100 to 200 pages in length. Standard length of self-help books came to be 300 to 400 words on average.
While e-books were computerized and paper books were this trend cross had no effect on the length of the books e. They do not actually compete.
But that has changed now.
With increasing Kindle IPAD, Kobo, and the myriad of alternatives, books and electronic books have begun to compete directly with each other. It is no longer difficult to read an eBook. And most publishers have expanded their lists of electronic books for traditional publishing lists of books in electronic format.
The result has been a groundswell change in e-books. Prices have fallen and the lengths are increasing.
So what is the average length of a new e-book?
Well, it depends.
Electronic books are now moving towards the same length as the books published regularly. The self-help books and should be between 100 and 200 pages (25-50000 words) now. It is likely, in fact, that continue to grow until they meet the same criteria as a printed book.
